The waiting begins....

The waiting for our little bundle begins...We have had our three home studies and we are now waiting for it to be written up and for a date to have our "safety inspection" of the house done. We will need to get outlet plugs and cabinet locks and things of that nature...and the parenting begins :) I am so excited. I can not begin to express my joy. Thank you all for tuning in! Keep an eye out, more to come. Lots of love, Erin and Rob

Our third and final visit

Went VERY well!

She was at our house from about 10:45 until 2pm.

We talked about many things in this visit such as...

1) What would happen if something happened to Rob and I

2) How we would discipline our child

3) If our child is of a different ethnic background, would we embrace their culture and teach them about it

4) What would be their religious background? Would we go to church or teach them about faith

5) If we have any history of abuse

When our social worker walked into the house she said that it was beautiful, which is always a very good sign! She also said that Rob and I have accomplished alot in our lives and that we were very responsible adults that were ready for a child! How wonderful is that to hear! We were beside ourselves with excitement! Now we just wait, we need to find an agency to actually adopt through. We only had our home study done through St. Andre's. We do not qualify as adoptive parents to go through them so looking for another agency it is. We had had some amazing input about which ones to use. We are currently looking at Bethany Christian Services, and a few in Maine. Unfortunatley MAPS is closed to domestic adoption, so I guess it is just an on-going search it seems. When the right agency is found we will know. This sort of thing does not just happen overnight it is something we are going to have to continually work at. Thanks all for hanging in there through this process with us. We will definitley keep you updated about how things are going...We appreciate your support! *Rob and Erin*

Our 3rd visit...

...Is this coming Saturday 1/17 at 10:30. My sister and my Mom have been helping Rob and I get our house ready for the social worker. We still have the baby's room to work on and our room and some laundry to do but besides that we are pretty much ready for it. We hope that this blog finds you all well, and we will post another after our home visit is finished with. Thank you all for keeping your eyes peeled, and for your support. Erin and Rob

Yay for another step towards having a baby in our arms!

So, I just thought that I would let every one know that our social worker met with our personal reference yesterday :) This is another step towards becoming parents! We could not have chosen a better person than Carmen to be our personal reference. She was direct and to the point with the social worker and I think it made our social worker see a little bit more just how badly we want a child in our lives! Our next visit in 1/10 and we will be doing individual visits. One of us will be with her for an hour and a half and then the other will go in for another hour and a half. We will keep everyone updated, keep your eyes peeled, there is much more to come!!

Some news....

Our references have gone out in the mail!!
I have gotten word that one has gotten her packet, and the other two I am not sure of yet, we are going to have to call to ask. I am just wondering when this all is going to seem real, it doesn't yet. As our second visit comes nearer we are prepairing our house for our 3rd visit. Laundry and dishes are being done, we are taking our "junk" and either bringing it to GoodWill, or just getting rid of it...We need to do away with extra clutter that we do not need. I am going to have my Mom, my sister, my friend Katie, and Darlene come over and help with laundry and some decorating. Thank you so much for sharing this process with us, Love Erin and Rob

Hello everyone!

Hi everyone! Thank you for coming to our blog site. This is going to be a place where Rob and I are going to share our experience with adoption. To start I would like to share how our first visit went with our social worker. It went very well. We sat down and talked about preferences in a child we want, what we definitley did not want, what we will do about child care, how we will discipline, and the hours we are going to keep at work. I really liked our social worker, and believe that she is a good fit to help Rob and I get through this process. It is very trying and hard but in the end will be worth the roller coaster ride. I might as well get on, throw my hands up and scream with delight and take it for all it is worth because this is a once in a life time experience that is going to end up giving us what we want most in this world, a beautiful son or daughter. We could not be more excited about becoming parents. We have started painting the house and cleaning in preparation for a little bundle. This is going to be a short intro and we will keep everyone updated. Our visit on 1/7 has been changed, dates to be posted. We are also going to schedule the visit where she comes to the house soon too, that date will be posted when we know more. Thank you so much for sharing this experience with us. We will be sure to update! Erin and Rob
